The Department of Clinical Oncology is specialized for non surgical treatment of tumours. The Oncologists have expertise in radiotherapy as well as systemic therapy, such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targetted therapy and endocrine therapy. We provide treatment for all solid tumours, myelomas and sarcomas. They also have the expertise to manage any treatment related side-effects or toxicities. Evidence based comprehensive care is being offered for management of tumours. Treatment options, objectives of treatment- curative, palliative or prevention of recurrence and expected outcomes of treatment are discussed for each patient to provide them with customised cancer care.
The Department has the capability to plan and execute all modern radiotherapy techniques such as:
IGRT (Image guided radiation therapy) VMAT/RapidArc IMRT (Intensity modulated radiation therapy) Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT) 3DCRT (Three dimensional conformal radiotherapy) 2-Dimensional Radiotherapy Electron radiation treatment Deep Inspiratory breath hold techniqueThe Department is equipped with a CT simulator and Linear Accelerator(Vital Beam).
1. Vital Beam linear accelerator with 6 MV, 10 MV FFF, and 15 MV, and 6, 9,12,15 MeV electrons equipped with millennium 120 leaves MLC.
2. Treatment Planning Systems- ‘Eclipse’ from Varian Medical Systems
3. CT Simulator 24 Slice “SOMATOM SENSATION” from Siemens.
4. Mould Room Facility
5. All Quality Assurance Tools like Dosimeters, Radiation Field Analyzers RFA ,TPR 20/10 PHANTOM, SLAB PHANTOM for dosimetry qa, Portal dosimetry for IMRT QA, QA3 PHANTOM for DAILY QA, CATPHAN for CT QA and TPS QA.
6. The most advanced version of Varian’s Linear Accelerator series, its unique feature is the Flattening Filter Free (FFF) technology.
The radiation team comprises of Radiation Oncologists, in close collaboration with a team of dedicated Radiation Physicists including Radiation Safety Officer, Radiation Technologists and Oncology nurses to provide quality controlled, optimum, highly conformal radiation to patients, with minimal side effects. The radiation oncology Department is tasked to dispense radiation practices that are strictly compliant with AERB (Atomic Energy Regulatory Board) guidelines.
The Department also offer early screening of cancers in the Breast, Cervix, Head and Neck, Colorectum, Prostate and Lung.
Medical Physicists work behind the scenes alongside radiation oncologists to ensure that every patient's radiation therapy is delivered with pinpoint accuracy and maximum safety.
The Department of Surgical Oncology offers a wide spectrum of surgeries for cancers in the breast, head and neck, gastrointestinal malignancies, gynaecological malignancies, Pelvic malignancies, bone and soft tissue sarcomas. With experienced surgeons performing organ preservation surgeries, oncoplastic surgeries like complete breast reconstruction using flaps, and limb preserving surgeries for bone and soft tissue tumours, limb salvage surgery for bone tumours. We also offer laparoscopic aided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and diagnostic nasal endoscopies, Videolaryngoscopy, OGDscopy and Colonoscopies.
The Department of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care forms an integral part for cancer care team as a whole by providing anaesthetic support in surgery as well as Diagnostics, Critical Care and Pain management, with an optimal, evidence-based approach. The ALS/BLS trained anesthesiologist provides perioperative anesthesia from induction of Anaesthesia for diagnostic and radiation procedures to rendering quality care to the critically ill. The Department extends skilled medical support for postoperative care and critical carein addition to providing quality analgesia for pain relief in cancer patients.
TDiagnostic Pathology Services include Surgical Pathology, Haematopathology and Cytopathology. In addition to the routine laboratory services, this Department is providing ancillary diagnostic techniques - Immunohistochemistry (IHC) reporting. Immunohistochemistry is done routinely for accurate tumour typing and for hormone receptor and Her2 neu status.
Surgical Pathology
Services include Histopathological examination of surgical specimen.
The Department of Radiodiagnosis & Interventional Radiology uses medical imaging technology to aid diagnosis of tumors, as a part of metastatic workup and for treatment planning. The Department is staffed by Radiologist who are experts in diagnostic imaging as well as interventional procedures and serves patients with kindness, compassion and strive to better understand and respond to the needs of patients. Our team is skilled to perform interventional radiological procedures such as administering joint injections, CT and ultrasound-guided procedures, tru-cut biopsies, and TRUS guided biopsies. We provide services for endoscopic procedures, OT and critical care procedures and neuro-diagnostics. Our Department uses a variety of advanced, high-tech imaging equipment such as 24 slice Somatom Sensation CT scan, Mindray consona Ultrasound , Mindray Doppler
